Women’s Circle in Barnham Broom

At: The Painted Barn, Barnham Broom
When: Once a month on a Friday evening, 7pm–8.15pm

The Women’s Circle at The Painted Barn is held once a month on a Friday evening, in one of the most genuinely suited spaces Ania could have chosen: high rafters, warm low light, cushions and blankets laid out across the floor, candles on every surface.

Each circle begins with a short settling meditation to help you arrive fully, followed by an opportunity to share in a safe and non-judgmental environment. There is no pressure to speak; you are always welcome to simply listen and receive. We explore the practice of holding space for one another with presence, compassion, and respect, allowing each woman to be seen and heard just as she is.

The circle continues with a guided heart meditation, helping you soften, open, and reconnect with your inner quiet. There may also be additional practices or reflections to deepen the experience, depending on the energy of the group. Light snacks close the evening gently.

Many circle regulars have been coming for months or years; most newcomers are apprehensive in the car park and at ease within the first ten minutes.

A local tip

The drive home after a circle is worth taking carefully. The roads around Barnham Broom are dark and quiet, and the state you are in after a good circle is not the state you arrived in. Many women text a friend when they get home.

FAQs

Women’s Circle at Barnham Broom

How often do circles happen and how do I book?

Once a month on a Friday evening, dates announced on the website and to the newsletter. Places fill quickly, so the mailing list is the most reliable way to hear first.

I’m dealing with significant grief. Is the circle a good space?

Often yes, but the circle is not therapy and is not suitable as a sole support. If you are in acute grief, talk to Ania before booking so she can think with you about whether this is the right thing at the right moment.

Can men attend?

No. The circle is women-only by design. For mixed-gender reflective space, the Monday meditation class or a Meditation Workshop is a good alternative.
