Hatha Yoga in Barnham Broom

At: Barnham Broom Village Hall
When: Mondays 5:30pm–6:30pm

Hatha Yoga at Barnham Broom Village Hall has run on Monday evenings since January 2023: a large space, a good wood floor, and a group that has quietly settled into something like an extended family. Ania teaches it in classical form, a careful warm-up, a sequence of standing and seated poses held long enough for the body to actually settle into them, then a supported savasana at the end. The pace is unhurried, the instruction is clear and individual, and nothing is competitive.

The hall suits it well. It is laid out so every student has proper space around them. Cushions and straps are provided; bring your own mat if you have one, and if you do not have a mat yet, contact Ania before your first session and she will bring one for you. Beginners are welcomed without fuss and given a short orientation before their first session.

Many students attend the 5pm Meditation class that runs in the same hall directly before yoga, making a full Monday evening of it. The meditation can also be added to any Hatha Yoga booking for just £1: the option appears at the time of booking. Students come in from Dereham, Costessey, Easton, Hockering, Yaxham, Mattishall, Kimberley, Wymondham, Colton and the surrounding villages. The drive out through Colton and past Bawburgh Lakes already begins the unwinding before class even starts.

About Hatha Yoga

What the practice involves

Hatha Yoga at Blossom Yoga is a careful, traditional practice: classical postures held long enough to settle the body and quiet the mind, sequenced with breath work, and taught with individual attention. Classes build strength and flexibility gradually and suit beginners alongside experienced students. The pace is unhurried, the room is warm, and nothing is competitive. This is yoga for everyday bodies, taught in Norwich and surrounding villages since 2014.

Students typically find it helps with

  • Builds strength and mobility gradually, without strain
  • Improves posture and eases long-standing back and neck tension
  • Steadies the nervous system through long-held poses and slow breath
  • Supports joint health, balance and bone density in midlife and beyond
  • Develops a calmer, more focused attention you can take into daily life
  • Creates a regular, sustainable rhythm of self-care

When does the class run?

Mondays, 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Early enough that you have a full evening afterwards, late enough that the drive out through Colton has already started to slow you down.

From the ring road, head out along the Watton Road, through Colton and Bawburgh, then right at Barnham Broom. About 20 minutes door to door from most of Norwich, a little longer at school pick-up time.
