Craniosacral Therapy
Gentle, deep hands-on work that settles the nervous system and lets the body release what it has been holding.
Craniosacral Therapy is one of the quietest and strangest modalities I offer, and one of the most consistently transformative. It does not look like treatment. You lie fully clothed on a warm couch, Ania places her hands lightly somewhere on your body, and then very little appears to happen. Underneath that stillness, a great deal is going on.
Craniosacral work listens for the subtle rhythms and patterns of tension the body has accumulated, from injury, from surgery, from birth, from grief, from chronic stress. With extraordinary light contact, the therapist invites those patterns to shift, often by doing very little other than being present with them attentively. People describe the sensation variously as warmth, drifting, dreamlike wandering, or simply profound rest.
The work is particularly well suited to long-standing patterns that have not responded to more direct interventions, chronic back pain that shifts slightly with physio but never resolves, tension headaches, fatigue, poor sleep, the diffuse anxiety that has no clear cause, the aftermath of surgery or birth trauma. It is gentle enough for people recovering from serious illness, and those for whom ordinary massage is too much.
Sessions are held at ProActive Therapies in Honingham: a quiet, well-equipped clinic about fifteen minutes from Norwich. The room is warm, the couch is warm, the pace is unhurried. All sessions run an hour. Ania will send you a health questionnaire before your appointment so the time on the couch is used fully. Many people come for a short course of three to five sessions; some return periodically for maintenance; some come once to see.

What to expect
You will receive a short health questionnaire before your appointment. On the day, talk through what has brought you in and then settle onto the warm treatment couch. You remain fully clothed throughout. Lie on the warm treatment couch, usually face up, and close your eyes. Ania will place her hands gently at your feet, sacrum or head and work from there. The session is almost entirely silent. You may feel warmth, gentle movement, or drift into a deep restful state between waking and sleeping. At the end, a glass of water and a few minutes sitting up quietly before driving home. Many people notice shifts over the following 48 hours as well as during the session.

On Craniosacral
"The craniosacral work with Ania has quietly changed my sleep, my jaw tension, my shoulders. I can’t explain exactly how it works but I know I leave different to how I arrived."
"I was sceptical, and said so. Ania listened, explained nothing more than she needed to, and let the session speak for itself. I left feeling untangled in a way I couldn’t quite name. The persistent headaches I’d written off as just how I am have mostly gone."
"I found Ania after surgery when nothing was quite settling back into place. The work is incredibly gentle, which surprised me. After each session there is a stillness that lasts a few days. I didn’t expect bodywork to feel like this."
